For my first blog in my "Artists You Should Know" series, I want to introduce you guys to a duo hailing out of Chicago, IL (yeah, Chicago bias) called The House Moguls. The duo, which consists of Bill Basil and Gus Calderone, are easily one of the best talents here in the Chi and if you havent heard their shit yet, this is your chance to hear some great stuff.

Their are several reasons why I chose them, but the one that sticks out in my mind is their ability to combine so many different elements of house into their songs. They mesh all kinds of progressive, funk, electro, tech and make it groove together almost seamlessly. Very few artists can do this and the only artist I can slightly compare them to is Laidback Luke.

Over the last couple years, their sound has grown tremendously and so has their resume. They have hooked up with several popular artists like Ian Carey, Asle, Oscar G, Tony Arzadon, MC Flipside, Deadmau5, Patrick Alavi, Josh the Funky 1 and also did a remix of Daft Punk's "One More Time" (and KILLED it by the way).

They have kept busy as of lately too, snappin' up projects left and right, not to mention a couple huge releases with Nervous Records and just recently, had their song "Get That Feelin'" featured on ABC's hit TV show Ugly Betty. (Watch on YouTube) Eric Morillo has recently shown support by spinnin' their remix of "Motherfucker" live at the Subliminal Sessions 2008 plus Laidback Luke (stud) has also shown love for their newest remix called "Poppin Bottles"

There mixes are filled with pure energy and amazing tracks by themselves as well as some up front promos by today's leading artists. This is an intimate description of what they do live. Most usually a live show consists of Bill and Gus each on their own set up of 2 to 4 CDJs or a tag set on 3 to 4 CDJs for longer shows of usually 2 to 4 hours.
